Pfizer Booster Qualifications

If you received Pfizer initially:
For patients who have completed their primary Pfizer vaccination series (received 2 shots of Pfizer), you qualify for a booster if:

  1. You finished the primary vaccination series at least 5 months ago AND
  2. You are age 5 or older

Boosters you may qualify for:

  1. Pfizer full dose (0.3 mL)
  2. Moderna half dose (0.25 mL, must be 18+ to receive) 
  3. Janssen full dose (0.5 mL, must be 18+ to receive)

Patients age 5-17 may only receive a Pfizer booster.

Second booster doses of Pfizer are now available for:

  • Any person age 50 or over who received their first booster at least 4 months ago, AND
  • Immunocompromised patients age 12 and over who received their first booster at least 4 months ago

Second Booster for Immunocompromised Patients
Certain immunocompromised patients have different primary series and booster recommendations. Please refer to the CDC’s website for moderately to severely immunocompromised patients for specific guidelines: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/recommendations/immuno.html

Second boosters of Pfizer or Moderna are now authorized for some immunocompromised patients. For patients who have undergone solid organ transplantation, or who are living with conditions that are considered to have an equivalent level of immunocompromise:

  • A second booster of Pfizer may be given to patients age 5 and older at least 4 months after receipt of a 1st booster dose of any approved/ authorized COVID-19 vaccine.
  • A second booster of Moderna may be given to patients age 18 and older at least 4 months after the receipt of a 1st booster dose of any approved/ authorized COVID-19 vaccine.
