If you completed a primary series of any approved vaccine for emergency use to prevent COVID-19, you may qualify for a Pfizer booster.
- The original Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is a monovalent vaccine that is authorized as a single booster dose for individuals aged 5-11 years of age, at least five months after completing a primary series of an mRNA vaccine.
- An updated (bivalent) Pfizer booster is now available as a single booster dose for individuals 12 years of age or older, administered at least 2 months after either:
- Completion of primary vaccination with any authorized or approved monovalent COVID-19 vaccine, or
- Receipt of the most recent booster dose with any authorized monovalent COVID-19 vaccine.
Certain immunocompromised patients have different vaccine recommendations. Please refer to the CDC’s website for moderately to severely immunocompromised patients for specific guidelines: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/recommendations/immuno.html
